“Freedom House exists to provide emergency shelter to those veterans in a housing crisis, while also providing support, advocacy and referrals to encourage self-sufficiency and movement towards permanent housing”.
My friends and I got together to pack lunches for the residents of Freedom House. We so appreciate their service to our country and the sacrifices they made for our freedom. We hope they felt the appreciation we were trying to convey through the messages we wrote on each bag.
Volunteering doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Find a local shelter and offer to pack lunches or make muffins and coffee to drop off. Get a few of your friends to each donate one item and create trays of healthy snacks for kids in the shelters to enjoy after school. Making an impact can take just a few hours of your afternoon.
