We wanted to do something special for Christmas for the kids living at Miller Community House, so we decided to throw a party. We played games with prizes, read stories, made a craft and had pizza and dessert together and ended with passing out treat bags. So many times when we volunteer, we know we are helping people, but we don’t actually get to interact with them. We all agreed that this was our favorite service project so far. The party made such an impact on us because we got to play with the kids. They gave us hugs. We laughed with them and hopefully made their lives a little brighter for a few hours. The definitely brightened ours. Being with the kids also made homelessness much more real to us and strengthened our resolve to continue helping others.
